About Us

We are the Stewards of Lake Minnetonka

The Lake Minnetonka Association is a nonprofit organization formed in 1968 to promote the preservation, protection, and the reasonable use of Lake Minnetonka and which serves as an information resource and advocate for lakeshore owners and businesses around Lake Minnetonka.

Our members are lakeshore owners, residents, businesses, lake users, and others who work together to care for Lake Minnetonka and who understand the importance of lake stewardship. Lake Minnetonka is an important resource, and each generation passes the mantle of responsibility of its care to the next. Today we are the generation which carries this awesome responsibility.

If you are not already a member, please become one and join with your neighbors in the Lake Minnetonka Association that are working to preserve Lake Minnetonka’s beauty and legacy.

“We listen carefully to you and use what we hear to develop programs and advocate for positive change and serve as a resource and advocate for our Lake Minnetonka community.”

Our Focus

The Lake Minnetonka Association listens carefully to you and uses what we hear to develop programs and to advocate for positive change. We need your membership to keep our voice strong and to ensure that Lake Minnetonka continues to shine as a gem among lakes.

The job of being a steward is getting harder. The legacy of Lake Minnetonka is threatened by new invasive species, polluted runoff, misuse, and a growing indifference from government agencies charged with protecting it.

Advocate. Educate. Action.

We need your membership so we can advocate for lake interests; keep residents and businesses educated and informed about issues affecting the lake; continue to focus our attention on Lake Clean-Up efforts; and keep the lake open for recreation. We need your support to take action and hold government agencies charged with managing the lake accountable and to protect the interests of lake residents and users.

Lake Minnetonka is special, it is integral to the lifestyle, heritage, and economy of the area. It is no small effort to protect this lake – it takes all of our combined efforts.
